Ft. Ord bike path vs gate

Other than all the fences and detours, there is way too much sand on these roads.  At the intersection of the Bike Path and the back of the old CIF area, the combination of sand in the braking zone, and that big-ol-fat yellow metal pole.  It screams ACCIDENT!  This is a remote area, and I bet that it would be difficult for an EMS crew to find an injured cyclist.  All this can be avoided, if the roads and general area would be cleaned up.  Perhaps remove the pole.  Even tho the pole is yellow, its still metal, and its still dead SMACK in the way.

In a time of so much change, it seems to me that cyclists are not that well considered for.  As we all know, there is a war going on, gas prices are going up, and we Americans pay for too much car.  A sustainable society should be our vision and goal.  Using mass transit would help. Light rail for Monterey would be a screaming HIT!

In the world of Bicycle Lifestyle, safety is paramount.  From personal safety to safe places to ride.  Wear a helmet, use lights at night, and hopefully our governments can keep the streets, roads, and bike paths safe.
